He belongs...
Don Mattingly appeared on only 9% of Baseball Writers' Ballots in
2006. That's 66% that he needs for entry in the hall. Donnie Baseball
will fall off the ballot if he does not receive 6% of the vote in 2007.
What can we do to help?
Members of the Baseball Writers' Association of America (BBWAA)
who have been a member for 10 years or more are qualified to cast a
ballot. The members of the BBWAA are only known to its members.
Several writers have revealed their identities however. A
comprehensive list can be found here.
Write these individuals and urge them to reconsider voting for Don
Mattingly on next year's ballot. Be sure to include why you think Donnie
Baseball meets the criterion for entry into the Hall of Fame, and ask
them if they would promote our grass-roots effort in their respective
newspapers.
